(Deerfield, IL) -- Walgreens is promising its employees a wage increase is coming soon.
The Illinois-based chain announced Tuesday it will raise pay for hourly workers in phases, with the ultimate goal of reaching fifteen-dollars per hour by November 2022. The initial pay hike is set to happen in October, however the company didn't disclose its current average hourly wage or the number of workers who would see the pay increase.
Walgreens said it will cost 450-million-dollars over the next three years to increase workers' pay.
