(South Lake Tahoe, CA) -- The governors of California and Nevada are declaring states of emergency due to the Caldor Fire.

It comes as fire officials have ordered everyone out of the city of South Lake Tahoe, California as the blaze approaches. The wildfire has burned more than 290 square miles since it started two and-a-half weeks ago and it's 15-percent contained.

A mandatory evacuation order went out Monday for 50-thousand people on the shores of Lake Tahoe, the scenic, world-renown alpine lake on the California-Nevada line about 100 miles east of Sacramento.
