(New York, NY) -- The National Football League is announcing a four-million dollar fund to investigate the prevention of hamstring injuries.
The study will be led by a team of medical researchers from the University of Wisconsin.
The NFL says the research is a multi-year effort to "better understand and prevent lower extremity injuries, including soft tissue strains" like hamstrings.
Hamstring injuries are the most common injuries suffered by NFL players.
