TikTok Gives Permission To Collect Faceprints, Voiceprints

(Culver City, CA) -- TikTok can now start collecting "faceprints" and "voiceprints" of its users.

The social video app updated its privacy policy this week to give itself permission to "collect biometric identifiers and biometric information," which is similar to other social networks that do this for targeted ads.

The app says it will request permission from users before doing so under U.S. law, but doesn't specify if that's federal or state.

If they're going by state law, only five have biometric privacy laws that would require consent.
