House Approves Equality Act To Ban LGBTQ Discrimination

(Washington, DC) -- A landmark bill to ensure everyone is treated equally under the law is one step closer to reality.

The House approved the Equality Act Thursday, sending it to the Senate.

The bill's lead sponsor says the LGBTQ community has waited long enough. It bans discrimination against people based on sexual orientation and gender identity. That includes the workplace, housing, education, public accommodations, credit and jury service.
