"Retire Congress North Dakota" chair presents points supporting constitutional initiative

(Fargo, ND) -- The chair of the campaign promoting the North Dakota ballot measure calling for congressional age limits is presenting his case.

"I don't know very many people in their right mind who decide at the age 80, I'm going to run for congress. The people that are running at age 80 are the ones who got elected at 50 or 55 and they've been in there 25 or 30 years," said Jared Hendrix.

Hendrix is head of the group Retire Congress North Dakota.

Measure 1, if passed by voters, would not allow anyone over the age of 80 to serve in North Dakota's congressional delegation.

Hendrix says the problem with fitness tests for elected officials is that they are "too ambiguous in law."
