Multiple injuries reported in oil field explosion near Williston

(Williams County, ND) — Multiple agencies responded to an explosion at an oil field northwest of Williston on Friday night.

According to Williston Fire officials, the initial reports were for an explosion shortly after 6 p.m. Friday with multiple people injured. Williston firefighters responded with two Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulances and an ALS command vehicle initially. A third ALS ambulance was requested after firefighters responded to the scene.

While EMS crews were en route, it was determined that there were believed to be a total of five workers present on the site at the time of the explosion, with three sustaining injuries. The three were being transported to the hospital by private vehicle.

Ambulances intercepted the vehicle between the scene and Williston, and the three persons were transported the remainder of the way to the hospital by ambulance, before being transported by fixed-wing air medical services to a regional burn hospital in Colorado for treatment of their injuries.

No further information is available on the conditions of the injured persons.
