Williston City Commission approves 2024 fiscal year budget

(WILLISTON) – The Williston City Commission has approved the 2024 fiscal year budget for the City of Williston.

The proposed budget was presented to the Commission in a special meeting on September 25, and the Commission approved the budget in their regular meeting the next day.

City Finance Director Hercules Cummings told commissioners that the City has “experienced economic recovery from the global pandemic, and had revenue either reach or surpass pre-pandemic levels.”

The City is anticipating a projected surplus of more than $1.2 million dollars, marking the first time Williston has had a surplus in three years.

The 2024 budget anticipates continued revenue growth – and only contains a five percent increase in property taxes.
