Mail carriers ask for food donations in annual effort to "stamp out hunger"

(Fargo, ND) -- This coming Saturday offers you a chance to team up with your mail carrier to help "stamp out hunger".

"This is our big push, this is why we have it this time of year is school is getting out. There isn't a lot of food drives during the summer so this is our job is to get them through the summer months," said Fargo mail carrier Mike Fosberg, while talking about the annual, nationwide food drive put on by the US Postal Service.

All you are asked to do is leave non-perishable food items, preferably in bags, by your mailbox.

Your mail carrier will pick up the food, which will be taken to either the Great Plains Food Bank or the Emergency Food Pantry.

High protein items like peanut butter or tuna are in demand.
