North Dakota State Representative Greg Stemen: legalizing commercial sports betting would generate $3.5M in tax revenues

(Fargo, ND) -- A North Dakota State Representative is pushing a bill that would allow voters to decide whether to legalize commercial sports betting.

"In the state of North Dakota you can't access any of the legal sites. You end up having to go to foreign countries, foreign entities," said republican Representative Greg Stemen.

Stemen is backing House Concurrent Resolution 3002. Stemen says legalizing sports betting would provide consumer protection for those who participate, and would generate $3.5 million dollars a year in tax revenues.  Sports betting in North Dakota is only currently legal at tribal casinos. If the bill passes, North Dakota voters could decide the issue in November 2024.
