(West Fargo, ND) -- A prominent Red River Valley Fair figure is sharing gratitude following his recognition at an international event.

Cody Cashman, CEO of the Red River Valley Fair, was recognized at the International Association of Fairs and Expositions Annual Convention this year with the Rising Star Award. The award is the biggest Cody is able to receive in his age bracket.

"The award - essentially it's showcasing the best of the best, who's the most innovative, someone who has taken a fair and improved it. That is essentially what I did," said Cashman on WDAY Midday, "We took the Red River Valley Fair from a $2.8 million dollar organization to a $12 million dollar organization in two years."

One of the big talking points at the convention is finding solutions to workforce shortages. Cody says a potential answer will be implemented sometime in 2024, if things go according to plan.

"I'm actually talking about going completely cashless in 2024 to make it more seamless for people, cut down lines, making it more efficient," said Cashman, "If I have to have more tills, more folks collecting money, I have people counting cash; all those things have to happen and I don't think a lot of people think of it. It takes spots, it takes employees, it takes hours."
