Average gas prices in North Dakota and Minnesota fall 10 cents a gallon in time for Thanksgiving holiday travel

(Fargo, ND) -- If you are hitting the road for the Thanksgiving holiday, you'll be paying less to get there, thanks to falling gas prices. According to Triple A, average prices at the pumps in North Dakota and Minnesota have fallen ten cents a gallon over the past week. The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded in Minnesota is $3.47, while in North Dakota, the average is $3.55 a gallon.

“We can be thankful gas prices have fallen sharply since the record highs paid this past summer, but they still stand more than 30 cents higher than this time last year,” said Gene LaDoucer, regional director of public affairs for AAA-The Auto Club Group. “Looking ahead, if oil prices continue to slide, we should see prices continue to slide toward the $3 level over the next several weeks.”

Nationwide, the average is $3.66. That's a drop of 11 cents per gallon compared to last week. Motorists in Texas are paying the lowest average price at $2.99.
