"Cyber Madness" aims to teach North Dakota students computer skills while preparing for careers in tech

(Fargo, ND) -- North Dakota school children are once again participating in "Cyber Madness" this year.

"The idea behind this was to really increase the cyber skills that we have for our students in our K-12 schools throughout the state," said Michael Gregg, the state's Chief Information Security Officer.

Gregg helped launch "Cyber Madness" for the first time last year. The tournament features teams from schools around the state, and the competition is aimed at testing student's cyber skills and computer capabilities. This year, the competition will also be offered for middle school students.

The initiative is also aimed at preparing students for careers in technology.

"One of the things that we found is that there is a large number of cyber jobs within the state and many of those individuals trying to fill those jobs have a hard time doing it," said Gregg.
