(Fargo, ND) -- US Senate hopeful Rick Becker is sharply criticizing republican incumbent John Hoeven for voting in support of sending billions of dollars in US financial aid and weapons to Ukraine, a country which Becker asserts is rife with corruption.

"We are a nation tremendously in debt and have no handle on our finances whatsoever. We, because of our debt have lost leverage in the world against our overt and covert enemies including China and Russia," said Becker.

The state representative also criticized Hoeven for joining democrats in helping pass President Biden's $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill.

Becker. elected to state office as a republican, recently announced that he would run as an independent.  The announcement came weeks after the state republican party officially endorsed the incumbent Hoeven for the senate race.

"I see time and time and time again an unwillingness to reduce spending, an unwillingness to give greater tax breaks," said Becker.
