(Williston, ND) -- A long-time Williams County employee has been named the county's first Administrator.
Helen Askim was named the County Administrator at the Williams County Commission meeting Tuesday morning.
Askim previously has been the county's Director of Human Resources, GIS and Communications. The County says the evolution of her role over the past decade, including the crease in responsibility and scope, led Commissioners to make their decision on Tuesday. While the organizational structure remains the same, the appointment represents a center point of leadership for County staff and the citizens in Williams County.
“The change in title reflects the duties that she has been performing on behalf of Williams County for many years. She has proven to be a valued leader by solving problems, encouraging collaboration, and advocating for the efficient use of public funds” said Board Chairman, Cory Hanson, in a press release.
Williams joined Williams County in 1997 as the Red Cross Chapter Manager, as well as the Administrative Assistant for the Veterans Service Office.
The change is effective immediately.
