(Moorhead, MN) -- Lake Agassiz Habitat for Humanity (LAHFH) has officially completed and dedicated its 67th home within the Cass/Clay region for homeowners in need.

Habitat for Humanity volunteers, community members, and key project supporters listened to and participated in the dedication of the home by the organization. LAHFH Executive Director Jim Nelson says projects like these are necessary, especially for people who are unable to afford basic necessities.

"There's a substantial number of families who spend more than 50% of their income on housing, " said Nelson, "That makes their life unmanageable, its just impossible for them to afford healthcare, to afford nutrition, to afford meals."

Nelson says the pandemic has made their jobs even harder, and that is largely due to supply chain shortages.

"Our suppliers are telling us next year at this time to anticipate 15-20% additional increases. So we are looking at a 50% increase [in supply costs] in a two-year window for a single family home."
