Republican candidate for Minnesota attorney general Jim Schultz receives police union endorsement

(Fargo, ND) -- A republican candidate for Minnesota attorney general has been endorsed by the Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association.

"It's a massive endorsement.  On a personal level it's the greatest honor of my life. To be endorsed by a police group representing true heroes, public servants going out there everyday to protect us, and so on a personal level it's just an incredible honor," said Jim Schultz.

Schultz is a political newcomer and a fifth generation Minnesotan.  He is a business attorney who grew up South Haven.  He is a graduate of Harvard Law School and serves on the board of the Front Line Foundation, a non-profit supporting police and other first responders. He previously served on the Hennepin County Capital Budget task force.

If elected, Schultz said he plans to crack down on non-profit fraud and is calling on law makers to strengthen penalties for people convicted in cases involving child porn and child abuse.

Schultz also blames incumbent democrat Attorney General Keith Ellison for property damage in Minneapolis, which occurred during riots following the death of George Floyd.
