Former UND men's basketball coach Bill Fitch dies

(Grand Forks, ND) -- Former University of North Dakota men's basketball coach Bill Fitch has died.  

Fitch was the UND coach from 1962 to 1967 and led the team to a Division Two Final Four in 1966. He later coached at Bowling Green and Minnesota before entering the NBA coaching ranks. He led the Boston Celtics to the 1981 NBA title and was a two-time NBA Coach of the Year.  

He eventually entered the Hall of Fame. Fitch died at age 89.
