Crash near Grand Forks Airport leaves two with serious injuries

(Grand Forks, ND) -- A man and woman suffered serious injuries after a multi-car crash late Sunday afternoon near Grand Forks International Airport.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol says 76-year-old Dennis Neiss was headed southbound on 17th Street Northeast around 4 p.m. and came to a stop at the stop sign, then drove through the US Highway 2 intersection. That's when the driver of the other vehicle, 55-year-old Monty Cofell, T-boned Neiss's car on the driver’s side.

Both Neiss and his wife, Mary, were taken to Altru due to injuries from the crash. Cofell suffered minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
