(Valley City, ND) -- Redistricting is halting efforts to recall a Valley City-area state lawmaker.

North Dakota Secretary of State Al Jaeger moved Thursday to take back his July approval for petitioners to gather signatures in a recall effort targeting Representative Dwight Keifert. Keifert will now instead have to run for a seat in the new District 24 in 2022 to remain in the state House.

Detractors say they will be putting their own candidate up against him.
