(Otter Tail County, MN) -- Some cause for concern after officials in Otter Tail County say a scam is circulating involving residents Amazon accounts.
The Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office confirms to WDAY Radio that folks are getting a call from someone claiming to represent the ecommerce giant, saying their purchases are being placed on hold due to suspicious activity on their accounts. The scammer then asks for your credit card or banking info, claiming to be giving you a refund on your purchase.
Authorities say it's never a good idea to give personal information out over the phone to strangers, and if you do think your Amazon account is compromised, contact them directly.
