(Wahpeton, ND) -- A tragic scene in Wahpeton early Friday morning after an apparent murder-suicide left an adult man and woman dead.
Police Chief Scott Thorsteinson telling WDAY Radio that officers were called to a home on the city's north side around 2:30 a.m. for reports of a woman claiming a man was threatening her with a gun.
When authorities arrived and tried to make contact with the people, that's when they heard gunshots ring out from inside the home. After initially retreating from the home, the Southern Valley Special Response Team was called in, entered and found the man and woman in separate rooms deceased with gunshot wounds.
"There are no suspects and no threat to the community," said Chief Thorsteinson. "If you can connect the dots you usually find out what exactly happened, but were still waiting for BCI and the medical examiner to be sure."
The incident does remain under investigation.
