Three Fargo Schools to Dismiss Students Early for Gustafson Funeral Procession

(Fargo, ND) -- Early dismissal at impacted schools is allowing students to safely make their way home prior to the road closures for the funeral of fallen West Fargo Police Lieutenant Adam Gustafson.

Fargo Public Schools has announced that Wednesday, the following schools will be dismissed early:

  • Centennial Elementary School: 1:20 p.m.
  • Kennedy Elementary School: 1:20 p.m.
  • Discovery Middle School: 2 p.m.

The early releases are to accommodate the procession route for fallen West Fargo Police Department Lieutenant Adam Gustafson. The procession will result in road closures during regular school release times. An early dismissal will allow students to safely leave their schools in their normal mode of transportation; bus, pickup, or walking/biking. If parents or guardians pick up their student, they will not need to sign students out. Students will leave the building as per usual dismissal procedures.

According to the Fargo Police Department, “A partial road closure from 34th Avenue to 37th Avenue on 25th Street South will occur at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 26th following the funeral of West Fargo Police Lieutenant Adam Gustafson to accommodate a vehicle procession of family and law enforcement. The roadway will reopen once the procession has passed the area.”

Fargo Public Schools has also been informed that during the procession, vehicles will be prohibited from using/crossing 25th Street South or 40th Avenue South. In addition, students will not be allowed to cross these roads during the procession.

School will resume as scheduled on Thursday, May 27th.
