Compromise Reached In Oil, Gas Royalty Dispute

(Bismarck, ND)  --  A bill is moving forward that would create a compromise between the oil industry and state officials over how unpaid oil and gas royalties are collected.  Deductions from royalties for state-owned minerals have been the center of a dispute that has lasted over a year.  The House Finance and Taxation Committee amended the legislation to provide a six-year limit on how far the state can go back and collect unpaid royalties before moving it forward.
