Bill Would Require ND Health Officer To Be Doctor

(Bismarck, ND)  --  A bill before the North Dakota Legislature would require the state's health officer to be a practicing, licensed doctor.  The Republican-backed bill comes after three health officers in a row quit as the COVID-19 pandemic worsened.  Interim state health officer Dirk Wilke has no medical training.  The state health officer is appointed by the governor.
