ND Lawmakers Consider Gas Tax Hike

(Bismarck, ND)  --  North Dakota lawmakers are considering a gas tax increase to help pay for road and bridge improvements.  The House Finance and Taxation Committee endorsed a bill yesterday that would raise the motor vehicle fuel tax by six cents per gallon.  The original proposal was a four cent increase and was amended by the panel.  The amended bill would double the road use fee paid by electric and hybrid vehicle drivers.  The proposal would apply to gasoline, diesel, biodiesel, and compressed natural gas used in vehicles.
