Burgum announces end to mask mandate

North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum has announced a couple of key changes during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

In his Friday afternoon press conference, Burgum announced that his statewide mask mandate, which expires at 8 a.m. on Monday, will expire as planned. He says that the state will, with the cooperation of the communities and citizens of the state, be allowed to “take off the masks and throw them away” in 2021. Burgum said, however, cities and counties are still allowed to keep their mask mandate, if they wish.

In addition, with lower numbers, Burgum announced that statewide capacity limits will no longer be requirements, but guidelines.
