North Dakota bill would ban state, local mask mandates

(Bismarck, ND)  --  A newly introduced North Dakota House bill would ban mask mandates by local and state governments.

Representative Jeff Hoverson introduced the legislation that would also prohibit making a face covering a requirement for entering a building, maintaining employment, or receiving education or services.  The state implemented a mask requirement in mid-November when COVID-19 cases were on the rise. Hoverson points to ebbs and flows of case numbers in mask mandate states Minnesota and Montana as a reason the mandates don't work.

Cases peaked in North Dakota when the mask mandate was implemented, but have since fallen off.
