Cramer announces funding for NDDOT through COVID-19 Relief Package

U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND), a Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee member, announced today the North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) will receive more than $62 million through the $10 billion authorized by the COVID-19 relief package for highway projects.

“With its export-focused industries, North Dakota heavily relies on its roads and bridges to get the products we produce out of our state and into the hands of our consumers,” said Senator Cramer. “The funding we authorized ensures states like ours can continue important transportation projects which have been disrupted by the pandemic.”

The funding is allocated through a formula, ensuring smaller population states with higher transportation activities receive the funding they need. Senator Cramer worked with his colleagues to ensure transportation funding was included in this relief package.

Bill Panos, Director of the North Dakota Department of Transportation, applauded the announcement.

“This is great news for North Dakota because transportation is essential in our rural state,” said Director Panos. “We truly appreciate that Senator Cramer and the state’s Congressional Delegation understands how hard the pandemic hit North Dakota. This funding will help us to fix roads and bridges throughout the state as well as provide transit services to North Dakota citizens.”

Senator Cramer has been working with North Dakotans and his colleagues on the EPW Committee to pass a highway reauthorization bill which would make necessary upgrades and repairs to our nation’s infrastructure.
