U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) issued the following statement today on Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act:

“Section 230 is an outdated law being abused by big tech with little-to-no recourse, and we are seeing the consequences of it today. Twenty-first century companies require twenty-first century rules, which is why FCC Chairman Pai and my colleagues on the Senate Judiciary Committee are taking action. I applaud both efforts and look forward to working with my colleagues to develop equitable and accountable solutions while also engaging with the FCC to clarify the existing rules.”

Senator Cramer previously sent a letter to Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Ajit Pai asking the FCC to clearly define the framework under which technology firms, including social media companies, receive protections under Section 230.
