Crude oil spill reported in Billings County

 

Scout Energy Management, LLC notified the North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality (NDDEQ) today of a crude oil spill on a well pad they operate in Billings County.

The incident occurred about eight miles northeast of Fairfield on Tuesday, July 14. The cause of the spill was an open valve on a recirculation pump due to human error.

Scout Energy Management, LLC estimates that approximately 180 barrels of crude oil were released impacting rangeland. 

Personnel from the NDDEQ are inspecting the site and will continue to monitor the investigation and remediation.
