Hettinger receives funding for water infrastructure improvement

U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) announced today the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Office of Rural Development (RD) awarded a $228,000 loan and a $185,650 grant to the City of Hettinger. The funds come as a part of a $286 million investment by USDA’s Water and Environmental Program to finance Rural Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Improvement projects.

This RD investment will be used to repair a lagoon cell that serves the city of Hettinger. Specifically, the project will replace cracked lining, install an impermeable high-density, environmentally friendly, polyethylene plastic liner and seal the entire pond, allowing treated water to be retained and used for irrigation.
