North Dakota receives AmeriCorps funding

U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) announced today the Corporation for National Community Service (CNCS) awarded the state of North Dakota $1,413,062 as a result of the FY2020 AmeriCorps State and National Grant Competition. CNCS is the federal agency responsible for AmeriCorps and other national service programs.

South East Education Cooperative in Fargo received $498,269 in competitive grant funding from CNCS to finance the North Dakota Reading and Math Corps program. The South East Education Cooperative proposes to have 82 AmeriCorps members provide services and support to deliver a proven academic intervention model to students in North Dakota. After successfully completing their service, these AmeriCorps members are expected to earn $199,420 in Segal AmeriCorps Education Awards, a post-service benefit that can be used to cover the costs of post-secondary education or help pay back qualified student loans.

North Dakota State Commission on National and Community Service received $715,373 in formula funding, which will in turn be awarded to North Dakota organizations to support additional AmeriCorps members in the coming months.
