Crude oil spill reported in McKenzie County

 

The North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality (NDDEQ) has been notified of a crude oil spill from a pipeline in McKenzie County. The pipeline is operated by True Oil LLC.

 

The incident occurred about 17 miles southwest of Watford City on March 27, and it was reported the same day. The cause of the spill is still under investigation.

 

Crude oil flowed into Red Wing Creek, impacting approximately 1.5 miles of the creek. The spill has been contained and cleanup operations are proceeding. True Oil LLC has not yet estimated the volume of crude oil released. 

 

Personnel from the NDDEQ are inspecting the site and will continue to monitor the investigation and remediation.
