Congressman Kelly Armstrong released the following statement today after the U.S. Senate voted to acquit President Donald Trump:
“The most partisan impeachment in history is finally over. President Trump is still our president.
“The Democrats impeached President Trump with vague accusations because they have never accepted the results of the 2016 election.
“The Senate did the right thing in voting to acquit, but the Democrats’ partisan impeachment will have lasting consequences for our Republic. They trampled minority rights and irreversibly lowered the constitutional standard for impeachment simply because they don’t like the president. That’s the legacy of this House Democratic majority.”
Armstrong voted against the articles of impeachment against President Trump in the House Judiciary Committee and on the House floor.
Armstrong is serving his first term representing the state of North Dakota in the U.S. House of Representatives. He sits on the House Judiciary Committee, the House Oversight and Reform Committee, and the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis.
