Authorities respond to suspicious package at Federal Building in Bismarck

 

This afternoon at approximately 2:00 pm an unattended priority mail package was found outside of the William L. Guy Federal Building in Bismarck.  A federal court security officer on foot patrol observed the package and initiated security protocols. Bismarck police responded to the scene and their bomb squad was dispatched.

Employees in the federal building were told to shelter-in-place and streets around the scene were closed to vehicle and foot traffic while the package was investigated. The contents of the package were determined to be suspicious but presented no danger to the public.  The scene was deemed safe at approximately 4:00pm.  A joint investigation will continue including local and federal authorities.
