Cramer delivers remarks on Democrats efforts to repeal EPA ACE rule

U.S. Senator and Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee member Kevin Cramer (R-ND) delivered remarks on the Senate floor about Democrats’ efforts to repeal the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Affordable Clean Energy (ACE) rule in favor of the previous Administration’s Clean Power Plan (CPP).

“Make no mistake: right now- in the United States Senate- Democrats are asking us to eliminate good jobs, raise the cost of living, and take more money out of the pockets of the American people. The Clean Power Plan is unconstitutional. It tramples states’ rights, raises electricity rates, and does nothing substantial to reduce emissions,” said Senator Cramer, a former state utilities regulator. “By stark contrast, the ACE Rule- put forward by the Trump Administration- is a win for North Dakota and the country. It respects the law and restores the proper balance between states and the federal government while promoting American energy dominance.”

Senator Cramer worked with the Administration to craft the ACE rule and praised its release in June. During today’s remarks, Senator Cramer discussed the harm the CPP rule would cause North Dakota and highlighted the importance of following a cooperative federalism model when crafting these regulations. Click here to watch the full speech.
